JABIRU AUSKICK 2010

The 2010 Jabiru Auskick season came to a close on Saturday July 17 when a group of Jabiru Auskickers played at half time during the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide game in Darwin.

The kids and accompanying parents had a ball and some of the skills learnt through the Auskick season were on display with the Jabiru players acquitting themselves well. Congratulations to Shivaun Thomas, Bradman and Dawn Batkin, Zac and Tyson Davies, Nate Chapman, Catherine Ralph, Callum Wilkes on their performances at the game. Thanks to Ian Douglass and several parents who helped players get to Darwin for the game.

Leading up to the big game was another successful Auskick season with 52 Jabiru kids participating over 10 weeks.

There were many good performances during the season and the skills of all participants improved markedly over the 10 weeks. Auskick is not about who the best player is but it is about those who participate, listen and try to improve. The standout participants through the season were:
• Bradman Batkin
• Ryan Pollard
• Tyson Davies
• Zac Davies
• Will Bolitho
All of these players did not miss a single week.

They were closely followed by:
• Dawn Batkin
• Fraser Manderson
• Reid Manderson
• Matt Bolitho
• Ben Gatley
• Catherine Ralph
• Jake Gould
• Orbie Short
All these players only missed one week.

Well done to all these players.

Jabiru Auskick would not be possible without the help of a dedicated team of volunteers. A big thank you to all who helped in whatever capacity in particular Ian Douglass, Matt Large, Andy Davies, Sharon Davies, Anne O’Dea, Andy Ralph.

This year the Clontarf team was also a great help particularly with coaching the older kids. Thanks to Cameron, Brad and all the Clontarf boys who helped in particular Jordan O’Loughlin and John Cubillo who were there to help most weeks.

The Auskick program would not be possible without the valuable support of several sponsors.

ERA is the major sponsor and has supported the program for several years. ERA’s support enables the cost of registrations to be halved enabling greater participation from the kids of Jabiru and the surrounding area.

Several local businesses and organisations kindly donated weekly encouragement awards. Thank you to:
• Jabiru Foodland
• West Arnhem Shire
• Jabiru Sports & Social Club
• The Djabulukgu Association
 .

Sponsors like these have supported the Jabiru Auskick program since it started several years ago and their assistance in making this community program available to the kids of Jabiru is very much appreciated.

Other key supporters were:
• Kakadu Culture Camp for donating and usually cooking the meat for the program BBQ’s
• Jabiru Bombers Football Club for its support throughout the year
• Parents of Auskickers for their help through the year
• The West Arnhem College - Jabiru campus for their continued support

Without thesupport from these sponsors and supporters the Auskick program would not be possible.

So that’s it for another year. The organisers and coaches look forward to seeing plenty of kids and parents next year.

Don’t forget to support your local team the Jabiru Bombers when the season starts in October.
